Scientists working at the Large Hadron Collider made a rap which explains the basic ideas behind its function.
"Physicists hope that the LHC will help answer many of the most fundamental questions in physics: questions concerning the basic laws governing the interactions and forces among the elementary objects, the deep structure of space and time, especially regarding the intersection of quantum mechanics and general relativity, where current theories and knowledge are unclear or break down altogether." "It's about acknowledging our ancestors' influences. I make a point to make music that reminds you about my lineage. It may be an introduction for a few, a faraway home for some and an unseen land and unknown relative for a lot of people." - Zakee, Dazed&Confused, June 2010
Peace to DJ Nature who stopped by the Green Owl office while he was in NYC. He played us some new Mima tracks and chopped it up with Stephen about the music scene in Puerto Rico and some mutual friends from the island. The footage above and the photos are from his home studio in Santurce. They'll be back in the city soon for a music festival this summer. More to come.
Ninja took the stage yesterday in front of 20,000 people with their trademark opening "Ninja Fuckin Sonik we are Sonik Fuckin Ninjas!". As soon as they began to play people in the crowd starting going nuts. The police and producers of the event promptly shut them down stating "if we let ninja play right now they will make the crowd too crazy...someone is going to get hurt". After they kicked them off the stage the whole scene began to deteriorate. People started fighting and throwing chairs. If they let Ninja do their thing the crowd may have been placated. People came to see some music and when no one was allowed to perform it set them off.

From Common Dreams: Canadian torture victim Maher Arar’s rendition ordeal is now a closed file in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court decision to end judicial review of the U.S. role in sending him to Syria eight years ago.
The U.S. High Court on Monday declined review of Arar’s case – a development that means the Syrian-born man’s case “now never will be heard” in an American courtroom, according to the U.S.-based constitutional rights organization arguing on his behalf.
Arar himself acknowledged the decision “eliminates my last bit of hope in the judicial system of the United States.
“When it comes to ‘national security’ matters the judicial system has willingly abandoned its sacred role of ensuring that no one is above the law,” he said in a statement.
