Chances are you aren't anywhere near Springdale, Utah, but if you happen to be passing through the Southwest today, it'd be cool to stop by Zion National Park for it's 100th anniversary. Entrance is free, and you can check the Paiute dancers or just enjoy the park's rocky cliffs and valleys that are biblical in both namesake and splendor.

Lifestyle and fashion photographer Patrick Hoelck's Polaroid Hotel starts tomorrow at the Known Gallery in Beverly Hills. The display/sale will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Polaroid exhibits can be really rad, but the idea is kind of played out. Either way, the exhibit should be an interesting mix of people, styles, and 3.5" X 4.2" snapshots. Check it out if you're around.

Enough with conventional American Beauty Pageants and Miss California's obnoxious jabbering. In Abu Dhabi, enthusiasts bring their most spectacular camels from far and wide to compete in an annual beauty contest. Think of it like a dog show except with irritable animals and more trekking involved. Check out the pictures here. So legit.

Lost in the array of punk and new wave of the 1980's, Eddie and the Subtitles are at the top of many record collectors most wanted lists. They stand out because their transformation from the orange county punk sound, much like their contemporaries, The Adolescents, to a new wave, with a little rockabilly in between.
See the transformation in the stream.

This is what we could have if we didn't take dumps in the ocean! You know who you are...
Hey gang! Wanna hit up Rockaway Beach or La Jolla beach? You know, take a swim and grow a third arm from all the toxins in the water? A national survey in 2008 found that 7% of water samples had a hearty amount of human and animal waste -not to mention toxins, oil spills and nuclear wastes- all of which violate health standards. Perhaps more disturbing, there has been zero improvement in beach water quality since 2006 or 2007.
The Environmental Protection Agency scoped out over 6,000 beaches and found that many of them soared over the national average of 7%. For example: Louisiana 29%, Ohio 19% and Indiana at 18%. Delaware, New Hampshire and Virginia had the lowest violation rates, all with 1 percent, solid. So let this be a lesson gang, let’s not poo or piddle or throw our old bottle of arsenic in the ocean. Find out how you can help keep water clean so you wont grow any extra limbs. Stay up people.

Something about The Raggedy Ann's remind me of dancing in a field barefoot and getting dirty hippie feet. The uptempo guitar hooks, horns, and harmonizing, conjures up solid gold times. The Raggedy Ann's are like if Bebop and down-by-the-river-jamming made a lovechild who plays a clarinet that blows out glitter and flowers and peace signs. I caught them at least 5 times at this last years South by South West. AND, let us not forget they are a bunch of heartthrobs (especially that Garret .) Yep, they're rocking the whole package but really I guess that's your call. Stay up peoples

I'll take this cool, hand made recycled wallet over a Coach (status) wallet any day!
Across the street from the infamous SP22 Museum in Cambodia, a place that once harbored the victims of the Khmer Rouge, is a fair trade business called Village Works. Village Works uses recycled materials, employees local village women, children and people with disabilities. The friendly employees hand make all the products that are sold in the store, most of which are bursting with color and Khmer symbolism. I managed to pick up wallet that is made from 100% recycled plastic materials and hand painted. Below is their mission statement (which is so filled with love and selflessness it makes me think the world is not going to crumble). Checks my peoples and stay up!

I think it says "buy this" and be cool (like Coach!)
Our vision is to bring meaning to the lives of people in small villages, to nurture their worth as persons and to help them realize their potential and purpose in life. Our strategy is to organize, equip and inspire the villagers to produce quality handicraft works for the global marketplace. VillageWorksTM is more than craft. It is more than enabling the villagers to bring home food for themselves and their families. VillageWorksTM is about restoring the spirit to small villages and about bringing meaning to their life. It is about empowering the people to stand tall on their own.

Behind this house...

Lies what some are calling the eighth wonder of the world, a 300,000 cubic foot temple. Built by a few bored middle aged men with just pick axes and hammers in the foothills of the Italian Alps, the temple includes a variety of halls and chambers whose themes draw from almost every culture ever! Things like this truly show the breadth of human capacity.

More here.

See Kids! Learning is fun!
We've been known to hate on big business every once and a while on the GO blog, but now we gotta give it up for the energy company PG&E in San Francisco who also services Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. The company aggressively sought to implement mandatory standards and controls for green house gasses that were put into effect in California. PG&E has an impressive pitch: 56% of electricity from PG&E comes from non-greenhouse emitting gases. Furthermore, they subsidize homeowners that buy energy efficient appliances. According to Fortune Mag, PG&E are one of top ten eco-conscious companies.
